Jekyll Island Club Hotel Discover Jekyll Island

In 1886, a group of millionaires purchased Jekyll Island and converted it into a beautiful place for the country's most exclusive club.
Visit the Jekyll Island Club Hotel's web site.

By 1900, the club's roster represented one-sixth of the world's wealth. Names like Astor, Vanderbilt, Morgan, Pulitzer, Gould and others filled the select club's register. Non-members, regardless of stature, were not allowed. Dignitaries like Winston Churchill and President McKinley were refused admission.

In 1947, the State of Georgia purchased Jekyll Island and it has since become an attraction to history buffs as well as vacationers.

Jekyll Island is a special place, rich in history with an unspoiled natural beauty. Its timeless charm continues to allure visitors with its pristine beaches, ancient moss draped oaks and multitude of amenities.
